Homework

Reading:

Each class in our school is challenged to read 5 times a week at home as a part of homework expectations.

Rabbits Class - Books are changed on a Monday and phonics cards are sent home.

Squirrels Class Books are changed on a Thursday with Library book selection taking place each Wednesday.

Foxes Class - Accelerated reader has been successfully trialled and books are banded so that children can take a reading quiz and select an age appropriate book that they can change once they have finished the final book quiz.

Hedgehogs Class - Reading is expected 5x during a week. Accelerated Reader will be in place by September 2023. 

Owls Class - Reading is expected 5x during a week. Accelerated Reader will be in place by September 2023.

Year 5 and 6 children have a reading comprehension book with open ended tasks and activities that are based on the books they are currently reading. There is an expectation that the children within these year groups completed one activity per week.

Spellings:

Rabbits Class - Phonics cards are given to take home once the children learn them within lessons.

Squirrels Class - Spellings are set on a Friday (given to pupils in a spelling book). Year 1 within Squirrels are tested on a Thursday. Year 2 within Squirrels are tested with the rest of their cohort from Foxes on a Thursday.

Foxes Class - Spellings are set on a Friday (given to pupils in a spelling book). Year 2 within Foxes are tested with the rest of their cohort from Squirrels on a Thursday and Year 3 are tested on a Thursday.

Hedgehogs Class - Spellings are set on a Friday and children will be tested on a Thursday.

Owls Class - Spellings are set on a Friday and children will be tested on a Thursday.

Homework:

Squirrels Class - Optional homework based tasks on class learning are given to the pupils.

Foxes Class - Alternating weeks tasks based on English and Maths. Foundation topic tasks are optionally given throughout the year.

Hedgehogs Class - Open ended English and Maths tasks are given each term based on consolidating learning in class.

Owls Class - Open ended choice topic tasks based on the core and foundation subjects are given each term. Year 6's get CGP SATs revision books in the Spring Term.
